BBT brings together all the elements necessary to support innovation and enable the successful exploitation of biomedical research based on technologies emanating from the Babraham Institute and bioventures relocating to the Babraham Research Campus. BBT has taken a prominent role regionally in initiating and leading partnerships to promote knowledge and skills flow. It has established a reputation for successfully translating innovative science into viable business opportunities through partnerships for wealth creation. While stimulating inward investment to the campus, BBT's activities support wider investment in the life sciences to generate and sustain growth of the region's healthcare economy. Knowledge Transfer BBT is a Knowledge Transfer (KT) company, aiming to generate financial returns to support research at the Babraham Institute. The Babraham Bioincubator BBT develops the infrastructure of the Babraham Research Campus to promote start-up and early stage bioventures. The campus provides bespoke accommodation for bioventures at any stage in the business development cycle and supports the full spectrum of science from R&D to commercial realisation. The continued demand for accommodation on the Babraham Research Campus has enabled BBT to commit to a second BioDevelopment building, named 'Meditrina' after the Roman goddess of medicine, which commenced construction in September 2006 and will be ready for occupancy by late summer 2007. BBT is pleased to acknowledge the financial support provided by the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), which has contributed towards the capital costs.
