BioBASK Agency (SPRI)

The bioBASK Agency is the representative of the Basque Biorregion. It was created by the government to implement the bioBASK 2010 Strategy that guides the development of biosciences in the Basque Country. It coordinates the different elements of the biocommunity, and in particular, aligns the public administrations and all the support organisations for the creation and development of biocompanies (Innovation system that includes the Technology Parks, the Business Incubator Centres and bioincubator, public seed and venture capital, and internationalisation agents). It also advices on the funding of R&D (academic and private), and facilitates collaborations between entities and with other bioclusters. It is also responsible for the provision of information (consult webpage), monitors the development of the business sector and design or reorients, if necessary, specific actions for supporting the biocluster. The bioBASK Agency has been involved in a number or european projects and, at present, it participates in the ERANET EuroTransBio project. Additionally, it coordinates locally the participants (scientific or entrepreneurial agents) in relevant european platforms (Innovative Medicines and Nanomedicine).
