Biogenouest

Biogenouest (formerly OUEST-genopole) is the life science core facility network in Western France. It coordinates 16 core facilities grouping the resources and skills within 4 technological areas: genomics, proteomics, functional exploration and bioinformatics. A new technological area is being set up: “structural analysis and metabolomics”. Biogenouest core facilities are intended for both academic laboratories and companies. The network has been given a new name in 2009 in accordance with a new mission: coordinating and structuring any technological core facility and infrastructure dedicated to life science (not only in genomics and post-genomics) in Western France. It is still aimed at supporting high-level research programmes and economic development in the fields of marine biology, agriculture and food-processing, human health and bioinformatics. Several core facilities have been ISO 9001:2001 or 2008 certified. Many of them receive national recognition (IBiSA label), meaning that they must be open at the national level at least. Some facilities are also included in initiatives of European interest ("Marine Genomics Europe" Network of Excellence, ASSEMBLE FP7-infrastructure project, ELIXIR and EMBRC projects within the ESFRI roadmap).
