CEBR was originally founded by a group of like-minded biotechnology support organisations from across Europe with a vision of a network of practical, cluster-embedded organisations which could significant improve the operation of biotech companies throughout Europe.
Encouraged by the European Commission, this group of organisations devised the template for CEBR and successfully obtained FP6 funding for a 2 year launch project. They have sustained the mission of CEBR and helped create the structure through which CEBR operates today so effectively. That was in 2003 and in 2011, a Steering Committee for expansion and independence was confirmed.
